A long long time ago…

Well, it is not actually a fairy tale, but it sure does feel like it every single day. Let us take you to the beginning.

We met each other in a busy city, somewhere in The Netherlands in 2013 where we got off solid as a rock. After getting married and settling down a few years later, we had our first daughter, which planted the seed of our journey towards the wish for more peace and quiet outside our busy day to day life. After years of planning, we moved to Sweden in 2022 with our now four girls. With our roots developed in a concrete jungle, we chose Swedish nature for the roots of our girls. We settled in the beautiful area of Brännarebygden, in the Northwest of Blekinge, where our dreams of a healthier future have started to come true. With the quiet surrounding forest and the space to grow our own food, we have found our new purpose in life. Live, love and take it easy. We cherish every day, every moment, every leaf and every drop of rain (who knew we would love rain after 40 years of living in The Netherlands…)

Cherishing every moment of every day when you are here in the middle of nature, makes you want to sit and relax all the time and this is what we wish for everyone. That wish is what made us realise the only thing missing in our life and where Svala Husservice was born, where we can help you take away all the things you rather not do when you are visiting your place of peace. We want to extend our knowledge, stories of success and even learn new things, by sharing and assisting you in everything you desire. Maybe it is just some small maintenance, like hanging up a shelve to store books, or painting a few windows. Or maybe it is realising that deck where you can enjoy your coffee in the sun or rethinking your garden to increase the biodiversity. We can help you in your journey to a well maintained and carefree home.

We believe in a family and environmentally friendly approach and do not use any petrol powered tools or harmful chemicals.

Services & Pricing

At Svala Husservice we provide a wide range of maintenance and renovating services for your house and garden. From regular drive-by checkups during your absense, to garden maintenance, (carpentry) building or repairs and cleaning in and outdoors. Whether you need us to keep your garden or house up-to-date all year round, or just want us to come over and do that one job you have not been looking forward to, we can help you out.

We believe in flexibility and honesty and don’t like overpaying or overpricing. We understand that no garden or house is the same, so we will adjust our quote to fit your needs, from a basic starting point.

All prices are including 25% MOMS and we can even help you with ROT and RUT avdrag (only for Swedish citizens).

*Our from prices are based on a single house, with 1 bathroom up to 80m2 and a garden up to 500m2 with average low maintenance upkeep.

All our services in and outside your house will be done within normal reach of a ladder and according to the safety standards in Sweden

All additional services exceeding or outside any subscription will be quoted with an hourly rate of SEK 450 per hour (ex MOMS) and we can help you with ROT and RUT avdrag (for swedish citizens only)

    Frequently asked questions:

    Q: Do I need a subscription to enjoy your services?

    A: No, you absolutely do not need a subscription. We can arrange all services just on your request, or even on a regular basis without the need for a subscription. We will discuss your wishes and quote you accordingly, this way if you want us to do a recurring job sporadically, you can just give us the go and we will take care of the rest. no attachments, no problems.


    Q: If I want a subscription, how does that work?

    A: The first thing you do, is contact us via the contact form or by calling us, so we can congratulate you with a great decision towards a carefree experience! As soon as we get in touch, we will introduce ourselves and our way of working (if questions remain). Then we will send you some information and make an appointment to visit your property and to get to know each other (and hopefully a grand tour). During this tour, we will do a quick but thorough inspection of your property (free of charge of course!) and discuss your wishes for our services. We will then send you a quote for any services you wish to enjoy.


    Question: What happens if my house is bigger than 80m2 and/or my garden is bigger than 500m2?

    A: No problem! We do have some limitations (currently) if your plot is bigger than 1500m2, but everything can be agreed upon. We will discuss all your wishes during our intake and adjust our workload and prices to meet your wishes.


    Question: I want my garden to be more biodiverse, but what do I do?

    A: We will visit your property, often preferably when you are there, so we can feel the location, experience your environment and listen to your wishes. With the native flora and fauna and maybe even low maintenance in mind, we will then draw out a plan for your garden and discuss the possibilities with you.


    Q: You say you have a family and environmentally friendly approach, but how do you apply this?

    A: We strongly believe in the health of the atmosphere in nature and therefor do not use any form of petrol powered tools during our work. All our tools are battery powered and we will keep investing in these tools in the future while keeping our footprint to a minimum. Also, since many houses here in Sweden are connected to local inground sewage systems, we do not use any harmful chemicals in or outside your home in order to prevent disruption of the environment. Since we are a family of 6, we understand how important a safe and easy accessible house or garden is, so we will always work with that balance in mind.


    Q: If I start a subscription for the monthly checkups, how does it work with handing over keys?

    A: We like to keep your property and keys safe. In some cases, a key might not be needed, but there could always be a reason if we are first responders in case of unforeseen circumstances. There are various ways to resolve this, but we will always do what feels best for you and discuss these possibilities together during our intake.


    Q: When driving by monthly, what exactly do you do?

    A: We will not just drive by, we will check your full property. We will take pictures of the house and special landmarks valued to you and compare these with the last drive by to see if anything changed or looks out of the ordinary. We will then send you an update (via email) with these pictures included so you are up to date on the state of your property. In case of any mishaps, we will throughly invest and inform you as well and if need be contact you (and/or authorities if need be) as soon as possible.


    Q: How does the Lawn & Order package work?

    A: We will mow your lawn one or two times every month in the summer season, from April till September, trim the edges and keep your paths tidy. This way your house looks like it is regularly visited, which reduces the risk of break-ins In the early spring we will prepare your garden for the season and during autumn we will remove leaves and prepare your garden for winter. This is very broad, since not a single garden is the same. We will discuss your wishes during our intake.


    Q: What is included in the Fresh Arrival package?

    A: When you decide to travel to your home, please inform us two weeks in advance, so we can make sure your house is cleaned, ventilated and ready for your arrival the moment you arrive. We will clean your windows two times yearly and perform a spring and autumn cleaning. We can even help with preparing the house in whatever way is important for you. We will discuss your wishes during our intake.
